The Demeler – A Stylish Interview

From Cali to New York City

Lily made her way up in the fashion industry through hard work and much ambition.

She studied at Sarah Lawrence College and Parsons School of Design and after moving to the Big apple, she started working with galleries, stylists and editorial platforms which helped a lot along the way.

Her blog, The Demeler, features so many different outfits you can easily get inspired from, so why not have a look. Here’s a little bit about Lily in an exclusive interview for StylishCircle.

1.How would you describe yourself and which is your most important asset?

I’ve always found this question a hard one to answer. But one asset that has really furthered my career is my inherent independence. I tend to kind of do my own thing, regardless of others are thinking/doing/saying. That’s been beneficial both in fashion and in life.

2.We love your style, how would you define it? Did starting a fashion blog changed or impacted your style?

My style is monochromatic minimalism with an edge. I think it’s important to stay authentic throughout the whole blogging process, so my style hasn’t really changed much long the way. But I have been introduced to a lot of new brands and products I never would have know about otherwise.

3. In order to look good, you have to feel good.

How do you stay in shape and take care of your health?

I try to break a sweat once a day. I also eat clean and stay away from anything that comes in a box or wrapper.  But when I go out, I’ll order pasta and dessert. Because life’s all about balance.

4. Which beauty routine do you never skip and which is the best advice you’ve ever got?

I always wash my face at night. No matter what. And my grandma has all these natural skin care remedies. Like a baking soda lemon scrub. I swear by it!

5. Where do you generally buy your clothes from?

Pretty much everything I own is from Barneys.

6. Do you splurge on shoes or bags?

I go back and forth. Last year I was a shoes girl, but this year it’s all about bags. The only problem is that bags never go on sale!

7. Which is the most expensive fashionable item you own?

Probably my large Givenchy Antigona I bought last month. It fits my entire life in it though. So it’s worth it.

8.Which new trends do you have on your wishlist, for the cold season?

I’m into velvet for fall. Especially velvet sock-style boots. I’m also really excited about the hoodies trend. I just got a Vetements hoodie that I can’t wait to wear layered under my Acne Studios coat with a pair of raw hemmed jeans.

9. What would you pick and why: over the knee boots or ankle boots?

I have about thirty-five pairs of ankle boots, and zero pairs of thigh-highs. So that answers the question. Ankle boots are just so much more versatile and go with any season or outfit. But a killer pair of thigh-highs can be a total game changer. I just haven’t found “the one” yet. It has to be perfect.

10. Any tips for our readers that want to start a fashion blog?

Post content that inspires you. Don’t worry about how many likes it gets, or what other people think. Down the line, authenticity is what lasts in this business.

Simple, stylish and very creative. We love Lily’s style! Follow her on Instagram for daily inspiration.
